Madoka Wakunami is a member of "Soryu gama", a brand of pottery created by a couple of craftspeople who have inherited the traditional techniques of Kiyomizu-yaki (ware) from Kyoto and Koishiwara-yaki (ware) from Fukuoka.
Combining the techniques of each kiln from different regions, they produce a wide range of products such as tea utensils, tableware and ceramic jewelry. While proposing a new way of dealing with "tradition" with Utsuwa combining beauty and functionality, she also works flexibly on new things from collaboration with traditional crafts from different types, such as bamboo, Kumihimo (braided string) and so on.
